The Journey to Self through SoulCollage®

The Ego, Jung tells us, is that part of the pyche that we think of as 'I'. Our conscious intelligence. Our everyday brain that thinks, plans and runs the show of our day-to-day life. The Self, as Jung defined it, is a greater entity, which includes the Ego but also incorporates the Personal and Collective Unconscious. Dreams and intuitions come from the Self. The archetypes of the unconscious dwell there. It is, Jung believed, the sphere of the Soul ~~Steven Pressfield. 'The War of Art'

"I would love to live like a river flows,
 carried by the surprise
 of its own unfolding".

Cairns Nth Qld: 'Processing Trauma through SoulCollage®'

Training Event:
Processing Trauma through SoulCollage®

Wednesday 7th and Thursday 8th March 2012

Facilitated by Dr. Greta Galloway from Alan Webster Consultancies & Ms. Jo Knights, SoulCollage® facilitator

If you are a counsellor, therapist, social worker, psychologist, mentor, support worker, carer, or guidance officer then this training is for you.

Many people come into therapy/counselling or find themselves in need of care as a result of suffering trauma. Trauma impacts people physically, cognitively, emotionally and spiritually. Trauma can result in people losing motivation and meaning for their life.

SoulCollage®, as developed by US psychotherapist Seena Frost, in conjunction with acclaimed transpersonal psychologist, Jean Houston, is a powerful intuitive collage process through which people are encouraged and facilitated to explore themselves, their life journeys and relationships. Using found images, they intuitively create a personalised deck of cards and, using a specific dialoguing process, they are guided to find their own answers and resolutions to life issues and conundrums in a way which helps them recapture their joy, passion and deep sense of life purpose. No art experience or ‘talent’ is needed. SoulCollage® engages people’s use of both left and right sides of the brain and therefore extends the repertoire of helping processes from ‘talking and listening’ therapies to ‘doing and being’ therapy. SoulCollage® fits comfortably with trauma processing and the newer therapeutic frameworks of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Mindfulness.

Training Objectives

This training will:

  •  Introduce/reintroduce participants to theories of trauma and its impact on cognitive, behavioural and social functioning;
  • Present an overall four stage trauma support and intervention framework;
  • Engage participants in developing a range of therapeutic/counselling/motivational skills to help clients process trauma and reengage with life;
  • Introduce participants experientially to SoulCollage®. Participants will go away from this training with the skills for making SoulCollage® cards, dialoguing with them and generalising them to their own therapeutic/counselling/support/ mentoring contexts;
  • Enable participants to recognise how the Committee, Community, Companion and Council suits can be utilised in therapy to enable clients to reconnect with life and community after trauma.

Attendance certificates will be available to participants at the end of the two day training.

Training Cost
Cost has been kept to a minimum and is inclusive of GST, workshop theory booklet, all workshop materials, lunches and morning teas. Cost is $420 per person for two days' training.

Jo Knights is an artist and certified infant massage instructor who has had previous life experiences as a paediatric nurse and environmental educator, among others. She serendipitously discovered the magic of SoulCollage® shortly after taking a 'leap of faith' and retiring from her job in 2007 and knew immediately that this process of intuitively using images to collage the parts of her Self, and then dialoguing with the cards to access her own inner wisdom, was something very special and powerful. She has been making SoulCollage® cards since 2008 and is a trained facilitator. Jo is somewhat amazed to find herself starting up her first business later in life where she can pass on her passion for the beauty of the SoulCollage® process to others. She says: “SoulCollage® is like that - it finds you, and then your life starts to flow in amazing and unimaginable and interesting ways, and you are never the same again!”
